SHOSTKA

Shostka, Sumy region, Ukraine, 2016

This project was realized in an apartment located in a Soviet-era residential building with a total area of approximately 55 m². The main objective was to rethink the original layout and create a more open and functional space suited to everyday living. Through the redesign of the floor plan, it was possible to create a full-fledged day zone that combines the living room, kitchen, and dining area. The central element of the space is a sofa group that forms a comfortable area for relaxation, while the kitchen and dining table are organically integrated into the overall composition of the interior. The apartment also includes two separate bedrooms: a compact master bedroom and a children’s room. In the private part of the apartment there is a bathroom with a bathtub, combined with a laundry area, which allowed the available space to be used efficiently and everyday household processes to be optimized.

The interior is designed in a Scandinavian style, emphasizing simplicity of form, functionality, and natural materials. A light color palette, clean lines, and restrained textures create a calm and balanced atmosphere. An accent element in the living room is a wall finished with clinker brick, adding texture and character to the space. All furniture — both built-in and freestanding — was designed and produced by our studio specifically for this project. This approach made it possible to adapt every element precisely to the apartment’s layout and create a cohesive and thoughtfully designed interior.
